Design and construction of an industrial flooring system for the Quala logistics warehouse in Colombia, covering a total area of 5,801 m² (≈ 62,441 ft²). The project included several operational zones requiring different flooring systems and flatness specifications adapted to high-performance warehouse operations.
The high-flatness storage area was constructed using a 22 cm thick 3500 psi concrete slab reinforced with Dramix steel fibers, finished with a neutral quartz dry-shake hardener. The slab was executed in strips with contraction joints and armored construction joints with 3/4″ dowels at 50 cm spacing, including Permaban Signature AR joints at aisle headers. The floor achieved a flatness classification of Fmin = 100, suitable for very high-precision material handling equipment.
The project also included additional functional areas: a battery zone built with the RCR SILIFIBRE system, a receiving staging area executed with the RCR CONDUCTIL SFRC system, and office areas constructed with the SILIFIBRE system adapted to pedestrian traffic loads.
The works included polyethylene vapor barriers, concrete supply with integrated steel fibers, spreading, screeding, vibration, leveling and mechanical finishing, followed by joint cutting and sealing with elastic sealants. The design considered loads of 12.5 tons per support plate (203 × 203 mm) and operation of EKX 516 VNA order pickers, with soil modulus K = 0.10 N/mm³.
