OUR HISTORY

RCR Flooring Applications, based in Benoni, Gauteng, is the RCR company operating in South Africa and neighbour countries (Botswana, Zambia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe...). With a solid track record in the design, preparation and execution of industrial flooring, it has established itself as a key player in the most advanced market on the African continent.

Origins and specialisation

PC Floors was founded as a local company specialising in industrial concrete slabs.

After the acquisition of the company by RCR Industrial Flooring Group in 2011 the company brought in South Africa innovations developed by the group to offer international standards to investors and final users.

Its high technical capacity and continuous investment in machinery and equipment positioned it as a national benchmark in flooring for:

  • logistics centres
  • production facilities
  • commercial facilities
  • heavy industry and large-capacity warehouses

Its focus on quality, compliance and technical performance quickly led to a close relationship with International manufacturers of advanced flooring systems.

Integration into RCR Group

With the evolution of the South African market and the international growth of RCR, PC Floors became a strategic partner of the group in South Africa.

Today, PC Floors operates in the country as RCR Flooring Applications RSA, responsible for applying and distributing RCR technologies, including the group's product brands:

  • Rocland (mineral hardeners)
  • Permaban (construction and expansion joints)
  • Rinol (industrial resins for technical flooring)

This integration has made it possible to:

  • raise the technical level of projects carried out in South Africa to world class facilities
  • introduce certified RCR systems in high-performance sectors
  • improve processes, safety and durability of flooring in logistics and industry
  • strengthen the RCR group's presence in Southern Africa

The most recommended solution for South African warehouses is a high-performance concrete floor reinforced with dry-shake hardeners (mineral or metallic) or polished concrete systems. These floors offer excellent durability, abrasion resistance and low maintenance, ideal for facilities with heavy forklift traffic and high load capacity.
In industries requiring chemical resistance, epoxy or polyurethane resin systems are preferred.

For large logistics or manufacturing facilities in South Africa, installation usually takes 7 to 21 days, depending on:

  • total surface area
  • floor thickness and reinforcement
  • type of topping or hardener
  • curing time required by local climate conditions
South African climates (especially Gauteng and Western Cape) can impact drying times, so choosing the right admixtures and curing methods is essential.

Yes. Modern industrial concrete floors are designed to withstand high temperatures, thermal shock, and daily temperature fluctuations typical of South African industrial zones.
For environments such as food processing or manufacturing plants with hot liquid spills, polyurethane cement (PU-Cem) and epoxy systems provide excellent thermal and chemical resistance.

Industrial floors require minimal maintenance, typically limited to:

  • routine mechanical cleaning
  • periodic sealing (for specific resin systems)
  • inspection of joints to avoid edge spalling
In high-traffic zones, a maintenance plan every 12–24 months ensures long-term performance. Polished concrete floors are particularly valued in South Africa for their low lifecycle cost.

Proper joint design prevents cracking, curling, and surface damage. In South Africa, where heavy machinery, racking systems and continuous forklift movement are common, high-quality joint solutions such as armoured joints or Permaban-type joint systems greatly reduce impact damage and extend floor lifespan.
Well-designed joints improve flatness, safety and operational efficiency in warehouses and distribution centres.
