Design and construction of a high flatness industrial floor for the CEDI Mercurio – Phase 3 logistics facility in Colombia. The project involved the execution of a SIGMA SLAB G system using jointless strip construction, specifically designed for Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) logistics operations.
The slab was built using 4500 psi concrete with a thickness of 16 cm, incorporating a dual reinforcement strategy: passive reinforcement with Dramix steel fibers and active reinforcement through post-tensioned cables. A quartz–corundum surface hardener (QUALIDUR) was applied at 5 kg/m² to ensure high abrasion resistance and durability under heavy logistics traffic.
The execution included double polyethylene vapor barriers, concrete supply with integrated steel fibers, spreading, screeding, vibration, leveling and mechanical finishing. Construction joints were executed with 5/8″ diamond dowels spaced at 45 cm, while Permaban Signature AR armoured joints were installed at aisle headers. The floor was completed with washing and densification treatments, achieving a flatness classification of Fmin = 75 suitable for VNA warehouse operations.
